Baseline SurveyAt the beginning of the school year, students took baseline surveys rating their engagement, interest, excitement, and participation in math at 35% favorability. Math growth mindset, perseverance, and self-efficacy were rated at 32%, while math curiosity was the lowest at 27%.
Pre-SurveySelf-rating pre-surveys were given to students before Unit 5 to assess their current participation and attitudes, as shown below. These questions expanded on the baseline survey given at the beginning of the school year. Compared to the baseline survey, questions 1 and 2 show that a majority of students were still not keen on engagement and participation. The results in questions 2 and 3 were consistent with the baseline survey, but those in question 1 were lower, with a higher percentage unfavorable.
