Teacher Leader Model Standards
The Teacher Leadership Model Standards describe seven competencies that characterize teacher leaders. Transformative Teacher Leadership began its work by considering three domains all of which connect to the work of highly functioning PLCs:
Domain I: Fostering a Collaborative Culture to Support Educator Development and Student Learning
Domain III: Promoting Professional Learning for Continuous Improvement and
Domain V: Promoting the Use of Assessments and Data for School and District Improvement
Arne Duncan describes these standards as, "a critical step toward preparing and supporting teachers in assuming leadership roles that promote student learning." Teacher Leadership gives high-performing teachers a voice in leading educational change.
