As educators it is imperative that we have and follow standards, similar to our students. The California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs) include the set of 6 standards listed below.
Standard 1: Engaging and Supporting All Students in Learning Standard 2: Creating and Maintaining Effective Environments for Student Learning Standard 3: Understanding and Organizing Subject Matter for Student Learning Standard 4: Planning Instruction and Designing Learning Experiences for All Students Standard 5: Assessing Students for Learning Standard 6: Developing as a Professional Educator By focusing on and incorporating all of the standards, teachers are ensuring that they are addressing every student's individual needs. During Guided Reading lessons, as well as implementation of a Guided Reading curriculum, teachers are intertwining the six standards above in order to optimize all students' learning experiences.
