TPACK

If you haven't hear about the TPACK framework, I hope my understanding and description of it does the justice it deserves. If not, at least I highlighted some resources and sparked excitement to look into it further.

TPACK is the acronym for: Technological, Pedagogical And Content Knowledge.  The goal of the framework is to incorporate the three elements so that they merge or intersect.

TPACK is a complex integration that requires understanding that a combination that works effectively for one course, one classroom or one teacher is unique to that situation. TPACK is fluid and is constantly evolving.

Technological Knowledge isn't just about being tech savvy or tech rich. It's about understanding how technology can support or impede a goal. It's the ability to evolve and continually adapt to changes in technology.

Pedagogical Knowledge is how a teacher approaches teaching. It's how an educator interprets the subject matter and makes decisions on ways to represent it or ways to customized the instructional materials to support students. Pedagogy spans understanding what promotes learning and linking curriculum, assessment and the process of learning. 

Content Knowledge is a teacher's mastery of subject matter. It might be specific to the academic courses like writing, reading or math. It might be broad as in the case of general education teachers in primary grades. Having a deep understanding of content allows an educator to support students in their learning with clarity and precision.

​Take about five minutes to watch this video on TPACK. I watched several but this provided the most clarity for me.
