My learners are teachers and my research and questions are all about how to help them better use their knowledge and experience to reach and engage every student. Teachers have to adjust to different learning styles, strengths, and challenges that are unique to each individual learner. In attempting to promote agency for students, it is important to determine what your current beliefs, values, and practices are in order to make lasting change happen.
SITE Model:
The acronym SITE represents: Sociocultural, Informational, Technical, and Educational.
In looking at the elements of the SITE model, they apply similarly to myself as well as my learners. We share similar values around wanting to make a difference not just in improving the lives of students but using education as means to affect change in the world. We want to feel that what we are doing is working but also have a voice in making decision based on our own research and observations. I think the motivation comes from wanting to feel that we're successful based on external measures while continuing to question what success is and how we define it. We always want to get more efficient in what we do because time is always at a premium.
Logo Design:
Below are visuals of my design process for my logo. It was inspired by the vibrant colors in the bouquet of flowers that represented the action and energy associated with agency. I attempted to capture the organic nature of the flowers through a more artistic feel but with a bit of professional polish. I used adobe tools (Capture and Fresco) to come up with my final iteration to represent my capstone project.
