ASSESSMENT
Another great way to engage teachers is with polling apps like Mentimeter.  Your participants can connect to the presentation where they can answer questions and interact in real time.  You are able to capture the thinking of the group quickly and create a quick visual representation or "read the room" in the moment.

Thinking Routines and Protocols

Protocols are structured processes that help facilitate meaningful dialogue, problem solving, and learning. Protocols give time for active listening and reflection, and ensure that all voices in the group are heard and honored. They are also a great way to build camaraderie within the team with opportunities to get to know each other through shared experience.

Some of my favorites are linked below:

Give One, Get One - great for starting a conversation about a reading

Compass points - looking at a problem or topic from 4 different perspectives

Chalk Talk - building on the thinking of others

CSI - a great way to summarize or synthesize the day's learning

The Final Word - to make sure every voice is included

World Cafe' - gives everyone an opportunity to lead the discussion

All of these protocols can be adapted to use with digital tools like those listed above.
