Lessons

In Round 1 students used Istation and the lessons were all from Istation online I didn't create the lessons. 
However, my focus changed for Round 2 and this time there were more hands-on lessons. 
Unit 1
Picture
Narrative Input Chart
This was the Narrative Input Chart I did the first week of the Cesar Chavez unit. In order to to this I photo copied certain pages of the book "Cosechando Esperanza" by Kathleen Krull. I then cut and pasted on the back of the pictures most of the actual story so that I read the back while all the students just got to see the pictures. For the background I just drew a field with the sunset in front of the class. After I finished reading each picture I taped it to the chart paper. Students were very engaged and interested in the story since I hadn't done a story like this before. 
Flipped Lesson
This was a flipped lesson plan I made for the students in the second week of the unit. I had them watch a video clip about Cesar Chavez's biography and they had to answer multiple choice questions along the way. I wasn't able to show the video the students watched, but this is the actual lesson plan I used. 
Cesar Chavez Pictorial
I made this pictorial by using some some student input and some material form OCDE Project GLADⓇ. The headings were used form Project GLAD. The picture of Cesar I just drew from a book cover. Highlighting of important vocabulary is an actual strategy form Project GLAD.
Most of the information I wanted students to learn I
​pre wrote them on the chart paper with pencil. Then while they were all sitting on the carpet I wrote them in with marker. I also wrote down information they provided to me. This took a total of 2 to 3 days. On the last day of the pictorial I wrote down important vocabulary words on bright yellow paper and handed them out to students that were on task. When we did a final read of the pictorial students would come up and tape their vocabulary word on the chart when they would hear that word.

​This was a song students about Cesar Chavez that students learned. It's a song and in Spanish it's called "El Corrido de Cesar Chavez" I search for the song on line and printed the lyric and put them on a chart paper for students to see.

Unit 2
Big Book on Endangered Animals
I started off the second unit by reading the Big Book on Endangered Animals in English. I made the big book using the narration from OCDE Project GLAD and using pictures I searched for online.

Leopardo de la Nieve Pictorial
I used the Snow Leopard pictorial that was translated in Spanish from OCDE Project GLAD. I first wrote the information in pencil and then went over it in marker in front of the students. This took about 2-3 days to complete. The final day of the Spanish Pictorial I wrote down important vocabulary words on bright green paper and handed them out to students that were on task. When we did a final read of the pictorial students would come up and tape their vocabulary word on the chart when they would hear that word.

Chants
These chants were also taken form OCDE Project Glad. I introduced the "Yes Ma'am" Chant the first week of the unit. The following week I introduced "Animals Here, Animals There" Chant. We alternated practicing the chants every day before lining up for lunch.

Animal Reports in Spanish
The last part of the second unit students worked on their animal reports in Spanish. They used the "Leopardo de la Nieve" Pictorial as a guide to what they needed to research about their own endangered animal. After their hand written Spanish animal report studnets had to create a google slide presentation of their animal report. I gave students the freedom of choosing either English or Spanish for their google slide presentation. Here are some samples of student work.
