Support and next steps


​It would not be possible to have earned this degree without the generous support of Napa Learns. The impact that their support makes on the level of instruction occurring in the Napa Valley Unified School District, and beyond, will be felt for generations, as our students are better equipped with 21st century skills and increased levels of critical thinking. 

This journey was also made possible with amazing instruction from Touro University, specifically, the terrific staff of the Graduate School of Education. Every class was worthwhile and helped me to improve the quality of my instruction.

Design Process
I want to extend a million thank yous to my AVID children. We have been together for four years and I even had the privilege of graduating along side them as the class of 2019.

These students have motivated me to reach for levels I previously felt unattainable. Without their constant support, I am not sure if I would have pushed myself as hard as I did to be a positive example of the transformative power of education! 

What comes next ?

Now that I have earned my masters I want to continue refining my flipped classroom model. Learning a new pedagogical approach to teaching will take more time than was allotted in the program and truly creating a sustainable practice will be my next challenge. 

I still enjoy lecturing in class and I know that my students enjoy the method of note taking that I have developed. I want to build in more opportunities for enrichment and critical thinking aside from just having students work on problem sets in class while I circulate.

If I am able to find success with this model, shown through improved test scores on the MI/CAASPP as well as improved student participation and grades in my courses, then I would feel compelled to bring my findings to my department, my campus and then to the district level.

Any significant instructional change takes time and commitment from those leading the change to ensure it is authentically better for students. I am committed to continuing forward with my flipped classroom next year, continuing to collect data and most importantly seek constant improvement for the sake of my students.
