Design ProcessWho is my audience?
Everything I am learning in this program impacts my students directly. I want to become a better educator/facilitator; which is one of the reasons I enrolled in Touro University Master's program. As I am learning about the new research and tools, I am implementing changes in my classroom and in my practice. However, I also want to impact other teachers. I want other educators to reflect on how to become better educators. How can we all become more innovative in our practice? Although I have a dual audience, the focus of my Capstone is other elementary school educators that teach in a dual immersion classroom or that teach Spanish as a foreign language. It is my hope that some of my colleagues from my school will be able to go onto my this website and find some helpful/useful information and/or tools that they can implement into their classroom. By inspiring my fellow colleagues, more students will be impacted in a positive way. The diagram above is the prototype for my Capstone. It was created in the beginning stages of my planning. I chose to use Bubbl.us to create it.
My Logo Design Process
I started out with Logomakr.com and found it very easy to use. There was a short video on the site that gave you a quick tutorial. It was very helpful. After the tutorial I began searching for graphics. There were so many to choose from. I was also able to add/layer more graphics and text. I wanted to keep my design simple, but my first design was too simple. I chose a heart because at NVLA our school logo has a heart and states "Two languages one heart." I also wanted it to represent student engagement or a love of learning Spanish. With my second design I wanted to keep something to represent technology, and since we use Chromebooks at our school, I chose a graphic that resembles one and I kept the heart, but added the word for Spanish in Spanish ( Español). I also added the phrase Enjoy Learning because my capstone is about helping students enjoy learning Spanish.
SITE Model
The SITE Model of lesson design takes into account the different contexts of the learner such as the Sociocultural, Informational, Technical, and Educational backgrounds. It is important to know where the learner comes from in all different areas to better help you when designing a lesson. Another instructional design is the ARCS Model.
