Four Week Plan
Week 1: Monday and Tuesday we created a story map poster that would be posted throughout the four weeks. This story map was a guide for key components that students would need in their story. After creating the poster with the class, I modeled how to fill one out on my own. Then, students were set off to work independently to start mapping out their own narrative.
Wednesday and Thursday we began our storyboard journey. I created a physical storyboard using a poster paper with the classes help. We added pictures as I read the story first, then the next day we added text. Friday, I introduced storyboardthat.com and students had the chance to play with the website. Week 2: The entire week was dedicated to creating their storyboards. They were asked to created a six box story using their story maps that they created the week before. I designated our writing workshop to it, our designated writing time, and they worked on it as to do work when they finished everything else. Students were so invested in it that it was not hard to have them focus and get it done. Week 3: Monday and Tuesday was dedicated to getting their storyboards completed. Students who were absent needed time to make up work and we were not going to share their work until everyone was finished and present. Wednesday, we shared our storyboards to our peers. First I partnered them, but when I noticed the great engagement and that everyone was on task we went through three to four rounds of sharing. Everyone was on task and engaged! Thursday we began our writing in our journals. Week 4:This week was used for students to finish writing their narratives in their writing journals, talking with peers for editing and feedback. By Friday all students had not only finished their writing in their journal, but they also finished publishing their piece using google docs and turning it into our google classroom. |

I used google classroom, google docs, and google forms throughout the school year. I collected student work in google classroom. Students used Google Docs to publish their writing for our writing wall. I used google forms to receive feedback from students on various activities and tasks. You can access all using your own google account and because of that these images are not linked.
