21st Century Learning and Workforce Readiness
Students need 21st century skills to fully participate in today's global economy and community. Minimally students and teachers need to be able to utilize communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity to be ready to join the Workforce. In addition, students and teachers need to have cultural awareness, autonomy, and digital literacy. Transliteracy or the ability to wield the tools of technology to navigate across platforms and interact with all the forms of media are critical to the success of a global citizen. Teachers and students need to be able to share their thoughts, questions, ideas and solutions. The 21st century requires heutagogical learners, those that are self-determined problem solvers, that are capable of making decisions. Focusing on Professional Development readies educators for the demands of 21st century teaching and prepares their students for a future that has not yet been imagined. |
