My action research journey involved a variety of standards. It includes the CA ELA standards in speaking and listening, as well as the California ELD standards. In the context of this project, the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for ELA or other California English Language Development (ELD) standards serve as essential guides for fostering speaking skills and critical thinking among English learner (EL) students, while addressing the issue of their limited participation. The CCSS emphasize the development of oral language proficiency and critical thinking skills across various subjects. Similarly, the CA ELD standards specifically target the language needs of EL students, promoting their ability to express ideas, engage in academic conversations, and think critically. Blending well with 21st Century skills, like communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. For more information on the standards take a look at the links on the right of this page. ----> |
