About the Author

I am the energetic mother of 3 beautiful children. We work hard and play harder. Being a mom is my greatest joy.
When I'm not out playing with my kids, I am the Academic Specialist at Browns Valley Elementary School in Napa, CA. A 17 year veteran teacher, I am now a resource for my teachers in the areas of curriculum, instructional practices, and technology. My background in teaching foundational literacy skills prepared me for the job I have today. All teachers need a strong foundation in technology in order to integrate technology into classroom lessons. From logging in to the school's Google site to developing technology based assessments, I help teachers find their way to deepening their own understanding while engaging students. Feel free to contact me and learn more about my work and what we're doing at BV.

Lasting Learning from the Innovative Learning program
My research started with the goal of engaging students through voice and choice in assessment. The end result was so much more than that. With my support and guidance I was able to engage not only students, but also teachers. Teachers are willing to tackle new projects using technology. They are then able to support and encourage their students to demonstrate knowledge in a way that is beneficial to all. The teachers and students are engaged in a delicate dance where there is give and take on both sides and everyone wins.
Reflections on your Journey
When I started the Innovative Technology Masters Program with Touro I was transitioning from my life's work as a classroom teacher to an instructional coach. With these changes came increased responsibility in many areas. How would I apply my learning to my new role? What value could I add with my new learning? The answer is that I am still figuring it all out. If I can inspire teachers to teach the way our digitally native students learn, then everyone is engaged and everyone wins. This was the best choice I ever could have made. The timing was perfect.
