"I am so bad at math!"As a math teacher, whenever I introduce myself to someone new, I hear one of two things: "I am so bad at math" or "You must be really smart." Both of these comments highlight how math is viewed in our society. It is viewed as something you must be smart to be able to understand. I don't believe this.
Students come to me with this mindset every year. It was my goal this year to see if there was something I could do to change their mindsets about math. |
