Design Process
I began this program interested in social media in the classroom and how effective it was in enhancing second language learning. It started out as a simple activity in place of a daily warmup, in which students shared responses to specific questions and read the responses of their classmates. It became increasingly clear to me however that this activity was actually an effective formative assessment. I was able to read their responses in real time and give them immediate feedback. From there, I started realizing the potential for technology use in the classroom as a means for formatively assessing students.
The goal for my website is to help teachers incorporate more technology in their classrooms. Although I am a foreign language teacher, I want to help any teacher in any content area learn about new technology tools. 21st Century learning skills have become a part of our curriculum, and for some, this can be overwhelming and scary. I understand how hard it can be to weed through the endless links and webpages, trying to figure out how a tool can be used and if it is worth my time. This site strives to make technology accessible to even the most novice technology user! I have found tools that I feel are effective, engaging and enhance student learning, and give examples of how simple it can be integrate these formative assessments into ones lesson plan. |
