Connected Alt Ed: PBL through Hyperdocs and other Digital Tools

As our site shifted to a Project-Based Learning Model we needed to brainstorm a pedagogical way to address our students and their situation. Having a curriculum that is engaging, relevant and allows students to work at their own pace is essential to meet the needs of our students diverse sets of skills.

Standards Addressed within the units:
  • Common Core Content and Technology Standards
  • 21st Century Standards (P21)
  • International Society for Technology in Education

Within the Alt Ed setting, flexibility is key. Consistency with student attendance and enrollment is a major hurdle when designing learning experiences.

With Connected Alt Ed students get
  • A transparent unit design with a driving question to maintain focus
  • Scaffolds to support students along their journey
  • Ability to work through the unit independently or with peers
  • Accessibility from anywhere with access to Google Classroom
  • Students as designers, being able to create a product that is their own
  • Authentic and prompt feedback
