21st Century Learning and Workforce ReadinessOur world is changing at a frighteningly fast pace. It becomes increasingly more difficult to predict what our youth will see in the future. Our current educational system was largely developed to meet the needs of the industrial revolution and its economy. Changes in the structure of our economy, nationally and globally, demand that our students walk away from school ready to meet almost any scenario that advances in technology could bring. This means our students must possess deep content knowledge, critical thinking skills, the ability to adapt and create, the ability to communicate and collaborate, and human qualities that enable sound decision making for the personal and common good. These skills that will enable them to thrive in their lives and jobs in the 21st century and beyond.

By this we mean that our district must have the commitment to and interest in the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, unarticulated needs, while supporting existing structures that are perceived by stakeholders as important and necessary. Efficacy in teaching and learning requires that curriculum, teaching strategies, learning experiences and assessment be implemented coherently.
