Beyond the Research

Next year, I'll be in the classroom full time and will not be coaching. As bittersweet as it may be, I'm excited to teach full time again; It's been a minute.

My next steps will be to continue incorporating art and technology into my lesson plans. I will be more mindful of students' social-emotional well being as our school community begins to open up during the pandemic. I'm currently enrolled in a district-wide class about SEL (Social-Emotional Learning) to increase my knowledge on the subject and support my students.

I will continue to collaborate with my colleagues to create meaningful, 21st Century learning that engages and encourages "out of the box" thinking.

I have begun to gameify my classroom by designing digital badges as rewards for my students to earn during asynchronous learning. Students are even assisting in designing the badges! I am seeing an increase in their time on task in the math and language arts programs. The badges excite them, and allow me a creative outlet through art.

I want to thank Napa Learns for the amazing opportunity to further my education. Without them, I would not have been able to enroll in the Touro master's degree program.

Please take a moment to visit their site. A donation is greatly welcomed, as it will give another educator the opportunity to bring their skills and knowledge into the 21st Century for their students.
