Rubrics and other measures for Assessing Digital Comprehension Skill...
Part of introducing a new digital tool is to have expectations. We want students to know exactly what is expected of them so they do not have any surprises if you say it was not done correctly. If you give them a rubric on what you expect they will perform up to those standards. Having a check off sheet for them or a self assessment rubric can be helpful too. They should always be able to reflect on themselves or even on the digital tool so you can get feedback from them.
When creating a rubric you want to keep it simple and student friendly. Here is an example of the rubric I used: I also gave the students an opportunity to self reflect. Most students like to feel like they have a voice in their learning. Using this self assessment gave them the opportunity to reflect on themselves and on the digital tool. This also helps wrap up your lesson. Below is the Self Assessment:
