Design Process

When I first started to think about my audience I thought my students, no doubt. They are always my focus. I went into this program to better my teaching practice for them. Then I realized what I have researched could also benefit other teachers at my school, maybe even further. This is when I changed my audience to other teachers, specifically lower elementary teachers. Once I realized who my official audience will be I created my prototype. At first it was really simple with a very small focus. Then I realized I wanted to focus on the two tools I researched but also give my audience other websites that I use consistently in my classroom to help with comprehension. Below is a picture of my first and second prototype. I initially wanted to use storyboardthat.com instead of Flipgrid for my second round of research but another cohort member talked so highly of Flipgrid I knew I had to try it.

One of the readings that helped me design my Capstone Website was Bobbe Baggio. Baggio said that 85% of people are visual learners. After reading this I realized that graphics, videos, and posters are extremely important while creating my Capstone. Baggio believes emotions and natural instincts play a part in learning. How you feel, how you think, and how you naturally do what you do, all are part of learning. So I wanted to give enough information about the digital tools and how to use them so it will be easy to use. Click here to read my design analysis. 

Creating a Logo

Creating my logo was really difficult for me. I am not a creative person. I’m lucky to have had my peers look at my logo and help me with any changes. My first logo I was very excited about, but it was a little cheesy. So I decided to try another logo making website to make a more professional looking logo. My final logo has a lot of meaning. First the puzzle pieces make the connection between all of the pictures, the computer, the books, the tablet, and the brain. The computer and the tablet represent the technology and the books and the brain represent the comprehension. Below are the three logos I came up with. The last one was my perfect match.
