Our mission is to transform lives by instilling 21st Century skills and to inspire lifelong learning. We believe it is imperative that we make learning relevant to the real world in order that our students can thrive in the work force, contribute to their communities, and become respected members of society. In addition to the basic traditional education imperatives, it is crucial that our students master the 21st century skills known as the four C’s: critical thinking, effective communication, collaboration on teams, and expanding upon students’ natural creativity. We are committed to creating powerful learning opportunities to ensure that we succeed. -NVUSD
Instilling 21st Century Skills
The Napa Valley Unified School District has three goals. The first is to prepare all students for college and career. The second is to provide equitable access and opportunities to close the achievement gap. The third is to instill 21st century skills. I give my students multiple opportunities to engage in the 4 C's, communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity. The students engage communication and critical thinking through partner talk and partner work during rigorous problem solving tasks. They practice collaboration and creativity through collaboration art and games.
