My thoughts on TPACKTPACK Reflection
Technology is changing the way education functions. It has opened the way administrators, teachers and students communicate, collaborate, and create in today’s classrooms. This is one innovation that cannot be ignored by all involved in education. Education needs to seize the moment and entwine technology into every aspect of education. Through the study of TPACK , I was able to see the opportunities that technology can bring to education. The Technological Pedagogical And Content Knowledge that was created by Punya Mishra, is the framework which addresses the relationship of technology, pedagogy, and content. I really feel excited about the possibilities that technology can bring into my classroom. I feel that every teacher in my at my school site, COES, and the district should have the opportunity to stretch beyond their comfort level and pursue the uses of technology. Many teachers are kind of surface using technology, meaning they only are using the obvious, such as google docs and slides. Although it is a first step, it is a long way off from teaching or applying 21st century skills. Every teacher should have the opportunity to explore TPACK. I am no longer timid about trying new programs or tools on a computer. I am excited about all the possibilities and want the opportunity to share with my students and colleagues. When my students used web tools in math during the period of my action research, their classroom engagement improved. If all teachers can increase student engagement while integrating the 21st century skills, then we are providing all of our students with opportunities for success. I am a 21st century thinker and learner and it is imperative that I share what I have learned at every opportunity. I hope that the technology that I have applied and embedded into my Capstone Website will inspire others to leap into the 21st century! |
