21st Century Learning and Workforce Readiness

This project helped me see how student choice connects to building 21st Century skills. Skills like critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity are vital for students today. These are skills that they can take with them into the real world and in their future careers. When you give students choice it encourages them to think independently, work harder and express themselves in ways they connect to their strengths and interests. This ties right into the 21st Century skills. Providing choice to students opens up the skills so they can reach their full potential. In a way student choice maximizes all of the skills to their full potential. How can you be creative without making any free choice?

These skills apply to students in every setting and at every grade level. Student choice along with the 21st Century skills better prepares students to become self directed learners who make decisions and solve problems. These are the life skills that they will need to be successful in whatever career or path they choose.
