California State History-Social Science Framework
The California History-Social Science Framework emphasizes the development of student content knowledge, discipline-specific inquiry, student literacy, and citizenship. In the grade-level course descriptions, for example, content is organized around student-centered questions of significance, and includes discipline-specific support for student reading, writing and oral discourse, aligned to the ELD standards. Student choice can be added to the framework in a variety of ways but most often students may select a topic or content to study that is part of the framework. The framework is very broad to allow teachers and students the ability to choose the topics that they want to go in depth on. |
