Community Support and  Next Steps

Thank you to all everyone at Touro University for their dedication and support for without it this project  and teaching credential would not have been possible.   I would like to thank the Board Members and District Administration of the Vallejo Unified School District for forging ahead implementing STEAM by making it a priority in the middle school curriculum and giving us both the necessary training and technology to impact the education of our students.  Also, the City of Vallejo Participatory Budgeting that allocated the funds to accomplish the STEAM goals for the Vallejo School District,

Another community partnership formed to create student success is between UC Davis School CSTEM center and the Vallejo Unified School District.  This partnership is the cornerstone of the STEAM curriculum that deepens mastery of math by learning programming and robotics programming using Ch\C++ language.

My next steps are to continue learning how to become highly proficient in using both collaboration, TPACK,  and Inquiry Based Learning in the classroom.    Next semester, a new project in STEAM called Blu-Homes will take the students on another design journey but will given part of a new home that they will have to completely design from top to bottom and all the accessories.  The overall goal is to apply math using real world concepts as required by common core.  Again, collaboration and inquiry based learning are the  cornerstones of the project.   In science, a project that will deeply explore  how diabetes affects  each organ system of the human body that will bridge TPACK and Inquiry Based Learning.

The most important next step is continue learning to become a more effective teacher so  every student that comes into my classroom will be successful and the term At-Risk will become ​obsolescent.
