21st Century Learning and Workforce Readiness 21st century skill comprise skills, abilities, and learning dispositions that have been identified as being required to become successful in the 21st century workplace. The skills that are required of our students have been rapidly changing and our students have been left behind because the lacked these 21st century skills. Part of this movement focuses on students to master the necessary skills in the rapidly changing, digital society. Majority of these skills are associated with deeper learning, based on mastering skills such as critical thinking, complex problem solving, and collaboration. These skills are different from more traditional academic skills that are primarily content knowledge-based skills.
Providing students with skills to change their way of think removes the mental road blocks that are preventing them from tackling difficult problems. In order of our students to master these 21st century skills our students need to have the confidence and grit to preserve through challenging situation. Taking the time to invest in teaching our students way they think about challenges and themselves is critical to sending confident, well rounded, and enthusiastic learners into the workforce. |
