BRAIN RULES BY JOHN MEDINA
O.K. so it doesn't sound very inspiring, but this book can help you see learning through a new lens. Changing your teaching practice through even one of these rules will set you on a different course. Example: Rule #9. Sensory Integration. Multi-sensory input always yields better results. This seems sensible, but Medina explains the brain process and examples in such an engaging way that you don't just want to know about it, you want to live it. |

This is really an idea book. The tools are ideas for fostering creativity through the use of digital media. If you only have a camera, you can use this book. One idea is for the teacher to take a picture of something and use it to inspire conversation, writing, or comprehension connections. Taking it one step further, student could be taking the pictures and writing about it, or they could be making a photo journal or story book. You see how the ideas just keep coming once you get a little inspiration. |
