The Driving Question:
What is the best way for college baseball players to be recruited? Is it to make connections with coaches, to email, call, have players observed, send video, or is it one of these, a few of these, or all three of these ways of contacting other coaches and schools to move players on to the next level? The Journey: The driving question centered around how to better have my players recruited. Was it contacting the head coach via email, phone, video or all three modes of communication. From the research and the surveys using google docs, it was clear that all three forms are liked by four year college coaches, but video is by far the best way to stick out and the most desirable form of sharing players talents. The research that I got from that driving question led to my capstone. If video is the best way to reach out, then how can I get them video in a way that is easy to access and they will spend time on. The ultimate goal for my capstone was to create a website that is user friendly and informative. Guiding Players, Coaches, and Parents through the processing in finding the right opportunity for playing baseball at the college level. This site will promote and showcase players talents. It will guide parents through the recruiting process. And it will also be used by College coaches to find the right players for their program. Ultimately, creating a great fit for all parties, and hopefully making the decision on where to go to play college baseball easier and less risky. This infographic shows the money available to players out of high school or transferring from a junior college. As a head baseball coach trying to move my players on, scholarships are a big part of college recruiting.
