TPACK

Picture
The most complex and informative model for 21st century learning looks at the interplay between CK content knowledge, and PK pedagogy knowledge, and TK technology knowledge to assess is technology is effective in the classroom.  This is especially insightful to answer why giving students computers doesn't necessarily lead to great learning outcomes.

TPACK points out that there are other important elements of teaching that we cannot forget. As educators it's easy to trust in the power of technology, but we can't forget all those pedagogy classes, that gives us great tools for implementation. Within the SAMR model, it helps us move from simple substitution of technology, to a redefinition of technology use and potential.

Using TPACK, a teacher can design instruction, assess their own strengths and weaknesses, and have a scaffolding to improve.  The goal is to land our teaching practice in the middle common area of the Venn diagram where the 3 components are balanced; giving our students the tools to keep up with the innovation in the world.
This capstone website integrates TPACK throughout.  Sound content knowledge (CK) can be discovered through the Inspiration and References pages. Effective pedagogy knowledge development is reinforced through the Research completed, measuring the affect of SEL tools on student learning. The technology knowledge was visible throughout, especially on the Assessment page, where educators can discover your own strengths and weaknesses around SEL, and ways to improve. This component redefines a professional development tool for teachers.
