Hi there! I'm Jennifer Pinch, the researcher behind Blended Writing Rotations, and I’d like to share a bit about myself. Originally from Napa, my journey has led me back to my roots, where I now teach at the same school I once attended. During my twenties, I enjoyed living in Santa Cruz and made the most of the beach and outdoor activities. I studied at CSUMB, later earned my credentials at Touro, and am currently earning my master's degree from Touro. When I'm not in the classroom, I’m usually exploring the great outdoors - I love camping, skiing, hiking, and gardening. However, what truly matters to me is my community, family, and friendships.

My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. I believe in a growth mindset and helping students develop through effort and perseverance. I encourage students to embrace challenges and tolerate differences. I believe that building strong relationships and community are essential for student engagement and well-being.

In my capstone on Blended Writing Station Rotations, I applied the TPACK framework to integrate technology, teaching strategies, and content knowledge. This journey has been eye-opening, allowing me to craft a blended writing station rotation approach that caters to the unique needs of my first-grade students at our IB school. By understanding how to integrate technology into the writing process, I created engaging activities using digital tools and platforms that enhance my students' writing skills and boost their enthusiasm. The principles of TPACK have enhanced our writing time by creating a student-centered learning environment that fosters collaboration, reflection, and inquiry-based learning. This journey has reaffirmed the power of leveraging technology and effective pedagogy to elevate the writing experience and inspire my young writers to explore, create, and grow confidently.

The master's research program provided me with valuable insight, like collaborating with fellow educators to gain diverse perspectives on teaching. This experience has prompted me to reflect on my instructional practices and make adjustments I’m excited to continue implementing.
