Closing the Math Achievement Gap:
Learn More-21st Century Teaching Strategies

These relatively new Common Core State Standards and eight Math Practices make achieving at grade level standards even more difficult for English Language Learners, unless, there are consistent support features for these ELLs.  According to the 2015 Nation’s Report Card (nces.ed.gov), there is still an 18 point achievement gap between White and Hispanic students.

These statistics are what led me to seek out innovative practices that could engage all students in math.  One 21st Century teaching strategy I found for engaging more students and increasing achievement was, Flipping your Classroom!  Please watch the following video as this teacher describes why she too, chose to flip her classroom.

Here's a look at a flipped 4th grade classroom in action.

I decided a flipped learning experience would not be enough, and may present a problem for students that didin't have technology or wifi at home.  So I continued exploring, and decided to incorporate the flipped experience into a blended learning environment in the classroom.  Please view two additional videos explaining, a blended learning strategy.
