Our vision of the future can feel opaque at best, but a few skills have already distinguished themselves as particularly resonant with a modern ethos. These "Four Cs" of 21st C. Learning anticipate a highly engaged and interactive future for young learners, one that succeeds on their ability to think critically, act outside of the box, and vividly communicate their experience within a network of collaborators. As such, these skills imagine real-world problems in search of real-world solutions, ones that stand to directly impact students as they continue to grow.
These skills don’t come of themselves. Through repeated practice, reading circles seek to nurture a habit around sustained reflection and collaborative exchange. In this way, students consider not only what they are reading but how this fits into a lifelong model of learning.
