Engagement in a music class is crucial due to the fact that learning music will benefit students by developing their 21st century skills; collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity, and technology use in the music field. These skills are relevant to have as they will increase student' skills that are needed in the 21st century workforce.

Overview of Standards Addressed

Before one can begin thinking of lessons to engage students, one must consider the learning needs of all students in the classroom. Below is a mind map which helped me address all learning needs and standards to be taught in the music classroom such as 21st Century Workforce Readiness, Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK), International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), Common Core, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
