On some level there is a marketer in all of us, whether considering our own presentation visually and as we speak. Designing a logo sparked creative juices while at the same time was immensely frustrating given my ignorance of photo editing tools and frugality of not wanting to fork over money for the upgraded version. Whether further exposing my age or ignorance, I went back to good ole' Microsoft Paint, having tried other logo makers and finding them unnecessarily restrictive. From a color palette standpoint, and as reinforced by the Gestalt principle of providing enough detail for the human eye to make a whole picture, I am a sucker for black and white, and appreciate clean lines, particularly for online platforms. I ultimately decided on a tree growing from the silhouette of a torso and head to capture the notion of growth mindset with the horizontal line between the two images symbolizing the notion of intervention - a bit of a stretch in the latter part, but hey, it's an artistic interpretation. Also, somewhere in our educational journey I learned that horizontal lines are also said to convey trust and stability, which is what we were attempting to instill in maths students with our intervention model.
