Growth Mindset Through Intervention

8 Standards for Mathematical Practice
The growth mindset belief system is also captured in some of the Standards for Career Ready Practice. Like the 8 Standards for Mathematical Practice, the Standards for Career Ready Practice harness notions of:
"...solving problems,..." (1) "...personal ownership..." (3) "...ongoing education and experience" (3) "...recognize problems..." (5) "...contribute positively to every team." (9) "...consider unconventional ideas and suggestions by others..." (10) "...create solutions..." (11) Again, these phrases are not directly correlated to growth mindset, but they are indicative of the mode of thinking deemed necessary and critical. Some trivialize growth mindset as a mere belief that intelligence can be developed through hard work, which is indeed true, but there is much more to it when considering how an individual perceives challenges and obstacles, how an individual responds to criticism, and how an individual views the success of others. There are layers and depth to growth mindset that make it all the more rich and imperative. |
