Kahoot! - Exit Ticket consisting of WH Questions generated from recently read chapter(s).

Bookshare - Allows students to follow along with highlighted words that are accompanied by audio.

Audible - Used for whole group read along for students who are auditory learners.

Show Me - Used by students to practice writing vocabulary words, answer questions and other writing activities that accompany the lessons.

PixWriter - Used to created modified versions of stories/reading passages for non-reader students to Level 1 readers. 

Calendar - Week at a Glance

Monday 
  • Introduction of Novel, its Author and Background Information (Video or Powerpoint, if available on Author and book)
  • Students receive copy of novel at their current or just above their reading level
  • Modified copies provided untiring symbols/images for level 1 students
  • Exit Ticket Answer Kahoot! app questions about book, author, etc.        
Tuesday
  • Review Learning Target/Goals 
  • Introduction of Vocabulary - Definition and image (if applicable)
  • Students read along while listening to story on Audible or Bookshare 
  • Pause throughout chapter and at end end of each page
  • Ask a series of WH questions (Who, What, Where, When, Why and/or How)
  • Record responses, questions and etc.
  • Exit Ticket
    • Level 1 - Use Show Me write vocabulary words or complete matching worksheet (image to vocabulary word)
    • Level 2 - Write a simple 3-5 word sentence from chapter read 
    • Level 3 - Write a two sentences and/or complete graphic organizer
Thursday
  • Complete worksheets as a whole group, pairs or small groups
  • Complete Graphic Organizer Posters (Characters, Setting, Main Idea, Events, etc.) as a group
  • Utilize iPad apps: Kahoot! questions and Show Me apps for additional comprehension support 
  • Innovative activities (stop motion mini movies, green screen, poster projects)
  • Exit Ticket - Mini Comprehension Quiz
Friday
  • Review Mini Quiz results - Clarify incorrect responses
  • Review Chapter, Vocabulary, Characters, Setting and etc.
  • Reading Comprehension Test/Exam
  • Student Self Correct with Staff support
  • Correct incorrect responses with support if needed
  • Art, Cooking or Interactive Game (align with novel)
