Common CoreThe Common Core State Standards utilized within my action research project span over several grade levels, as the students enrolled in my classes range from grades nine to fourteen. Students within my classroom have Individual Education Programs (IEP) and moderate to severe disabilities. These students are enrolled in my functional life skills classes for grades nine to twelve. Once students graduate with a certificate of completion, they continue in a post-secondary transition program from the age of 18 to 22.

TPACKTPACK encompassed my Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. My action research project includes an explanation of my knowledge, instruction in effective teaching reading comprehension. Additionally, students had access to various innovative strategies, technological devices. Lastly, my students began their journey in being innovative in demonstrating their knowledge and reading comprehension skills.

21st-Century SkillsThe use of the 4C's (Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Creativity) and "Learning Menus" allowed me to provide differentiated instruction. Students with special needs need choices of various learning lessons to demonstrate their knowledge and implementation of the 4C's.
