Research has supported that students should be held accountable for their learning. But when does this level of accountability begin? I am an upper elementary teacher. I have always had a pedagogy that develops an environment that supports student self-accountability. I am committed to improving the lives of my students academically as well as emotionally. My journey of finding the best practices to support student accountability and move students forward in academics has proven challenging. I have come across outstanding research and models for an essential component used in collaboration with what I have used to support everyday learning in my classroom. Below are units and lessons cultivated by those understandings and models.
