21st Century Learning and Workforce Readiness

The Napa Valley Unified School District (NVUSD) is a student-centered, 21st Century School District. It is the belief of the NVUSD that the old classroom model – teacher-centered, one-way, one-size-fits-all – makes no sense to young people who have grown up in a digital world.  Instruction must enable students to take ownership of their own learning, use technology to enhance learning, and ensure that student are active participants and ENGAGED in personalized educational experiences. The 6 C's are set of district-wide, Common Core aligned, learning outcomes have been created to help prepare students to be active and successful participants in the 21st century.

NVUSD's 6 C's 

1. ​Creativity - economic and social entrepreneurialism, considering and pursuing novel ideas, and leadership for action
2. Collaboration - work in teams, learn from and contribute to the learning of others, social networking skills, empathy in working with diverse others
3. Critical Thinking - Think critically to design and manage projects, solve problems, and make effective decisions using a variety of digital tools and resources
4. Communication - communicate effectively orally, in writing and with a variety of digital tools; listening skills
5. Global Citizenship - global knowledge, sensitivity to and respect for other cultures, active involvement in addressing issues of human and environmental sustainability
6. Character - honesty, self-regulation and responsibility, perseverance, empathy for contributing to the safety and benefit of others, self-confidence, personal health and well-being, career and life-skills
