Who are my students and what are their needs?
One area where students need to perform better is in mathematics. According to the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP, 2015) students had an average score of 240 points at the fourth grade and 282 points at the eighth grade which is based on a separate 0-500 point scale. These were scores in mathematics. The scores in 2015 compared to the scores in 2013 were one point lower for fourth grade and two points lower for eighth grade. Both of these scores are still categorized as below proficient. English Language Learners in fourth grade scored 218 and in eighth grade scored 243, a big difference compared to national average mentioned before. The biggest increase ELL’s had according to NAEP was from 2000-2003 with a score of 199 to 214.

SITE Model & Initial Analysis
The following document provides information on who my learners are and their needs.
Prototype
The Logo
This was the initial logo I created in the third semester of the Innovative Learning Program. My vision was to have a logo that represented my students, myself and the activities we do in the classroom. When I saw the logo I thought it was perfect. There were working wheels in the center with a lot of tech tools sticking out of it. But then once it was set as my logo on my website the tools on the outside were too small and one couldn't tell what they were. Then the center piece didn't seem like it represented everything that my capstone was all about.

This is my final version of my logo for my capstone website. After not being satisfied with my first version of my logo, I tried a different website, LogoMaker. I was looking for a symbol that would represent my students and I came across this globe. My students come from different countries and I really appreciated the networking lines going around the globe because that's what we try to do every day. To me that is what makes my classroom unique and I try, along with my students, to build a culture where we embrace diversity and learn math. Therefore, I thought this was a great final logo.
