What is the impact of social emotional curriculum on middle school special education students' ability to self-advocate post-pandemic?

More self-advocacy skill based programs should be incorporated into their academic curriculum to help support growth in this area. The lack of skills  has continued to prevent students from accessing their full potential to increase their performance.

There is a Need

Now that school has returned to face to face, email seems like a logical way to communicate with your teacher if you need any help. But, even that has even turned out to be an obstacle for some.  There is a need for students to start advocating for themselves when they are in a difficult learning situation  and not let their opportunity to learn glide right by them.  The responsibility does not fall on just the students’ shoulders but also the classroom teacher’s.  It is important to see if a targeted Social Emotional Learning program can help increase students' social and academic ability.
