TPACK
TPACK is the acronym of the framework that interweaves the technical, content, and pedagogical knowledge that teachers must possess in order to support student learning. The technology piece is a challenge to define in that it is always updating and it can vary from a whiteboard to a computer. Consider this area of knowledge to be the continual development of Digital Literacy skills of both the teacher and students. The Pedagogical knowledge is the instructor's understanding of the processes and practices of teaching and learning. This includes lesson planning, classroom management, assessments, as well as familiarity with cognitive, social and developmental growth. Finally, content knowledge is the teacher's understanding of the subject matter that is being taught such as math, reading, art... The infographic above shows the overlapping areas and when the three areas of knowledge are intersecting then you are following the TPACK instructional design model, or as it is more commonly known, 'the sweet spot.' Surrounding the circles of the Venn diagram is the context for which the teaching and learning are taking place.
