What inspired this project? My love of math and science first and foremost and my belief that math is the number one interdisciplinary subject.I came from a district where I had a SMART board for 4 years. I moved to northern California and was hired at a technology middle school. NO SMART board. I did have chromebooks and it was a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) school. I didn't know how to use them in the classroom . That inspired me to find out the current best practices and enrolled in the MAed program at Touro University. One of our first assignments was hearing a talk by Shelly H. Carson where she explains the pathways to creative solution and the 5 stages of the creative process. I had a problem and I needed a solution. My district was implementing the Project-based learning model/Inquiry. I couldn't figure out how I was supposed to do PBL/Inquiry, teach the technology standards, when my students came to me 64% below grade-level proficiency....oh yah, and the common core math standards (which is plenty on it's own).
